Join The Surfing Mums Movement

Love parenting, but miss surfing? We’re here to help.

With around 40 groups operating in locations across Australia, Surfing Mums runs surf meet-ups where participants buddy up to swap time in the water while their children enjoy supervised play.

Founded in 2006 by two mums in Byron Bay who discovered how regularly meeting up to take turns watching each other’s children while the other was surfing could benefit surf-starved parents, this not-for-profit volunteer organisation continues to be run by surfing mums for surfing mums (and dads and carers) around the country. The say it takes a village to raise a child, but sometimes parenting takes a village too. Consider Surfing Mums as a salty, seaside enclave of parents swapping child-minding duties to enable each other to regain their surfing mojo, one surf swap at a time.
